'Alexandra Palace Gig Is Hugely Significant', Say Bombay Bicycle Club

Indie-rock quartet Bombay Bicycle Club will be embarking on one of the biggest tours of their career this April – and see the final gig in London’s Alexandra Palace as the most ‘significant’ they’ve ever played.

The April-time tour will end in a sold-out show at Alexandra Palace, after shows in Brighton, York, Edinburgh, Liverpool and more, and the band see the show as the most sentimental and significant – because they grew up ‘a stone’s throw’ away from the venue, which they lovingly know as ‘Ally Pally’.

“The gig at Ally Pally is hugely significant for us,” guitarist Jamie McColl told the NME. “I grew up a stone's throw away from there and I can see it now as I look out my bedroom window. The band first started playing together at my house and we'd often convene there before going to gigs at Ally Pally.

“In addition to its sentimental importance it's the fact it's also the biggest headline gig of our lives. It's a potent combination and we'll be trying to put on an amazing show.”

Bombay Bicycle Club release their fourth single from their 2011 album ‘A Different Kind of Fix’ on April 9th, ready for their shows across the country.
