'Whitney Would Be Alive Had She Just Stuck To Pot', Says Tommy Chong

Tommy Chong, one half of comedy duo Cheech and Chong (a.k.a the most famous stoners in the world), has claimed that if superstar singer Whitney Houston had ‘stuck to pot’, she’d still be alive right now.
Cheech and Chong are famous for their films, their stand-up routines and, most famously, their love for weed. But while Whitney was fond of marijuana too, it was no secret that she would often smoke crack cocaine, pop pills and take other kinds of drugs – admitting that she had a ‘bad habit’ in an interview with ABC host Diane Sawyer in 2002. It’s widely believed that Houston’s death was caused by drugs in one way or another, and Chong thinks that it was the harder stuff which claimed her life.
“Had she just stuck to pot,” Chong told Access Hollywood, “she’d be alive today. It’s when you get into that other stuff ... The trouble with that other stuff is that you forget you’re high. You think you’re taking a bath and you’re not. You’re under the water. It’s a sad, sad thing.
“In a way, though, it was like she was saying goodbye. Like she was passing the torch onto Adele. It was a tough one to let go. It was like she came by and said, ‘OK, I’m out of here.’ It’s a sad, sad thing.”
Houston’s death on Saturday evening is still unexplained, with some believing she drowned in the bathtub she was found in, while ‘family sources’ believe the star died of a prescription drug overdose. No deaths have ever been attributed to the use of cannabis.
