Motorhead Advise Fans Against Buying Overpriced New Box-Set

Following in the footsteps of 70s rocker Elvis Costello, the legendary Motörhead have advised fans not to purchase their new box-set ‘The Complete Early Years’ – because it’s been put up for sale at an astonishing $600/£375 a piece.

The limited-edition release apparently features a vast collection of singles along with eight of their albums from years gone by, as well as posters, a photo-book – and a big red skull with light up eyes (we’re considering forking out for the skull alone!).

But, after fans waited on the release of the collector’s item, the band have now claimed in a statement that the box-set was released without their consent and are trying to push themselves as far from the product as possible, even going as far as to fell fans not to purchase it.

Motörhead have since published a statement saying, “Motörhead have no control over what's done with these early songs, and don't want fans to think that the band is involved in putting out such a costly box-set,” while Lemmy added “Unfortunately greed once again rears its yapping head. I would advise against it even for the most rabid completists.”

Costello previously made the same move after a box-set of his appeared with price tags asking for £212.99, which the star described as ‘either a misprint or a satire’ before advising fans to visit a Louie Armstrong museum instead.
