Conrad Murray Claims 'Financial Worry' Was Biggest Factor In Jackson's Death

Conrad Murray, the doctor jailed following the death of the King of Pop Michael Jackson, has claimed financial worries contributed massively to Jackson’s passing away back in the summer of 2009.

ImageThe 59 year-old was sentenced to four years in jail after being found guilty of involuntary manslaughter after Jackson died of propofol intoxication, but is now appealing against the sentence, and has filed new legal documents claiming that Jackson self-administered the lethal dose because of his debt worries. Jackson was reportedly $440million in the red.

Murrary’s lawyers have told courts: “Mr. Jackson was in debt approximately $440 million and desperately needed to fulfill a contractual commitment at the O2 arena in London. He was on the verge of losing his entire estate to foreclosure. The pressure to fight through his insomnia, to rehearse and be the entertainer he was in his earlier years was overwhelming. His motivation and resulting desperation were relevant to show a likelihood or reason to act in a manner inconsistent with good judgment.”

Murray has also reportedly asked if he can leave jail while his appeal is handled, promising to live with his partner and child, look for work and wear an electronic tag.
