Sex Pistols To Release Limited 'Anarchy In The UK' 7" For Record Store Day

British punk icons Sex Pistols have announced that they’ll be releasing a limited-edition 7” of ‘Anarchy in the UK’ in celebration of Record Store Day, which takes place on April 21st.

Originally released in November 1976, ‘Anarchy in the UK’ was the band’s first call to arms and single-handedly kick-started the punk movement that spread worldwide. 35 years later, to celebrate Record Store Day, the Sex Pistols are very proud to re-release a collector’s edition, 7” vinyl picture disc of this seminal debut single.

The re-mastered single will also feature original b-side track ‘I Wanna Be Me’, and will be available internationally – though it is limited to just 3,500 records. Plans are currently underway to re-release the classic album ‘Never Mind the Bollocks, Here’s The Sex Pistols’ as an expanded and repackaged release this year to commemorate the band’s 35th Anniversary. And, to go with the release, the band have penned a deal with Universal Music Catalogue UK – who are excited at the prospect of ‘re-evaluating the Sex Pistols catalogue’.

“To be given the opportunity to re-evaluate the Sex Pistols catalogue is every music lover’s dream,” said Universal Music Catalogue’s Karen Simmonds. “We’re looking forward to working with the band and celebrating their impact on worldwide culture.”

Sex Pistols frontman Johnny Rotten added: “Music can be great, when done by the great. The Sex Pistols are the greatest. Universal now has a trophy room, music is the imitation of nature, the Sex Pistols are nature, so please give generously. Thank you.”

You can listen to ‘Anarchy in the UK’ below.
