Labrinth Claims 'Last Time' Was Inspired By 'Sci-Fi And Daft Punk'

22 year-old singer-songwriter Labrinth has revealed that his latest track ‘Last Time’, which came out on Sunday, was inspired by French house producers Daft Punk – and his love for science fiction.
The single, which is the third to be taken from his forthcoming debut album ‘Electronic Earth’, is, as described by Digital Spy, an ‘ear-snagging mix of rolling bass and a jubilant string section that hurtles towards the clouds,’ and sees Labrinth moving more towards the electronic spectrum of pop and hip-hop – with the star telling Capital FM that he’d been ‘gravitated towards this kind of vibe and sound’ by his love for sci-fi.
He confessed: “I love sci-fi – everytime I look on a movies case it always says sci-fi even if I don't know it's a sci-fi movie - that's what attracts me. So, I think that's what gravitated me towards this kind of vibe and sound.”
He continued, “'Last Time' for me, was me working on that kind of French housey sound which is like Daft Punk. As well, German band Kraftwerk were inspired by electronic music so that's why I wanted to have my own perception of it.”
Labrinth’s debut album ‘Electronic Earth’ hits shelves on April 2nd.
