Labrinth has returned with a new single and details of his fourth studio album.
The British production powerhouse will release 'Cosmic Opera Act I' through Columbia Records on January 30, marking his first full-length project since 2023's 'Ends & Begins', though he also worked on the score for Netflix's sci-fi drama The Kitchen. He said:
"This record is an attempt specifically from an artist perspective to explore mental illness while navigating a career in the entertainment industry. The paranoia, the confirmation of threats, the desperate and unfulfilling pursuit of success.
"I’ve been wanting to create this for a long time... I hope that it will heal me in my pursuit of letting go of what no longer serves me. Some of the words sound like I’m ready to end it all... but in actual fact it’s a celebration of freeing my soul by confronting my grief."
Alongside the announcement, he's shared a new track, Implosion, the third single from the record, following the previously unveiled S.W.M.F. and Orchestra. Like the previous cuts, it finds Labrinth fusing orchestral textures with electronic elements, delivering a mix of spacey trap and dubstep.
In September, Labrinth indicated that a new project was on the way with the release of the eight-track EP 'Prelude'.
