Whitney Houston Death Caused By Accidental Drowning & Cocaine Use

Coroners investigating the death of superstar singer Whitney Houston have officially announced what they’ve found to be the cause of her death - accidental drowning and chronic cocaine usage.

The music world was shocked after Houston was found dead in a hotel room bath earlier this year, with friends, fans and family all hugely upset at the talented star’s demise after a long battle with drug addiction and abuse. The cause of her death has been an unsolved mystery since she passed away in February, though most did believe that drugs played a major part – something which coroners have now been able to confirm.

The full coroner’s report is set to come out in a couple of weeks, but they’ve already listed ‘accidental drowning’ as well as heart disease and cocaine usage as the official cause of death, whilst they also made it known that there were traces of prescription drugs Xanax, Flexeril and Benadryl in her system, though they did not contribute to the star’s death. They also added that Houston may have suffered a heart attack, which would have caused her to lose consciousness – leading to her drowning in the bathtub. Interestingly, no cocaine was actually found in her hotel room.

Houston’s family have been informed and last night released a statement that reads: “We are saddened to learn of the toxicology results, although we are glad to now have closure.” We’ll keep you informed of any updates in this story.
