Gaz Coombes Announces Release Of Debut Solo Album 'Here Come The Bombs' & UK Live Dates

After six successful albums with Supergrass (including the Number One debut ‘I Should Coco’), Gaz Coombes will release his debut solo album ‘Gaz Coombes Presents… Here Come The Bombs’ on May 21st.

Produced alongside Sam Williams, with whom Gaz Coombes first worked with on ‘I Should Coco’, ‘Here Come The Bombs’ represents a continuation of his day-to-day life in music. Recorded at Coombes’s home studio and at Williams’s Temple Studio, both in Oxford, the album explores the unexpected whilst maintaining the famous love of melody that marked some of Supergrass’s finest moments.

Opening with the ethereally dreamy ‘Bombs’, the album reverberates with Coombes’s sonic experimentations: the exuberant ‘Break The Silence’ features pulsating grooves cut with distorted guitars, ‘Fanfare’ sees Coombes experimenting with rhythmic, near spoken vocals, while the closing track ‘Sleeping Giant’ finds his vocals drifting through a cinematic, sci-fi induced soundscape.

Taster track ‘Sub-Divider’ can be downloaded now at Gaz’s Facebook and website www.gazcoombes.com. ‘Here Come The Bombs’ will be introduced by lead single ‘Hot Fruit’ which will be released on May 14th.

“In a band, when you get a group of people who are walking the same path, it can be the most beautiful thing,” explains Coombes. “But with this I felt it was really focused on just what I wanted to get across, and on my inspirations – they were all my things that I’m into, whether it’s film, film soundtrack, or past artists that we didn’t really look at much in Supergrass. That was all really exciting. This is a completely blank page in a blank book, ready to be written on.”

‘Here Come The Bombs’ also represents a new era in Coombes’s relationship with the music industry by releasing on his own Hot Fruit Recordings label but in conjunction with EMI Label Services.

On the live front Gaz has been confirmed a few dates including the Great Escape, Camden Crawl and The Apple Cart festival. Gaz Coombes UK Live Dates are as follows:
