'New Lyrics To Be Moodier And Paul McCartney-Esque', Says The Vaccines Frontman Justin Young

Justin Young, frontman of Indie rockers The Vaccines, has claimed that the band's new album will feature moody, Sir Paul McCartney-esque lyrics – but definitely not any singing about touring.

The band have been working on the follow-up to their debut album 'What Were You Expecting from the Vaccines?' for the past couple of months, and have been talking about the new record in press a lot as of recent – even telling The BBC recently that they have too many songs for the album already. Now, Young's opened up about the lyrical front of the record – and told fans to expect some moodier material.

Speaking to The Daily Star, Young said: “There's a track called 'Bad Mood' about me being moody. I started with the lyric: 'I was at the bus stop combing my hair' and thought it was the s**ttest lyric ever. Then I played it to our producer Ethan Johns and he thought it was fun and weird, like a lyric Paul McCartney would write, so I stuck with it.”

It comes after earlier comments Young made, in which he told the same paper that lyrics about 'life on the road' were 'boring'.

“We're better musicians and better songwriters, but it's the next chapter in the same book and I promise it won't be about touring. Records about life on the road are like records about politics – they're so hard to get right and are usually pretty boring.”
