My Bloody Valentine Taking New Approach On Next Album

Shoegaze rockers My Bloody Valentine are preparing to release their first album for over 20 years, and have now revealed that the new record will see their sound taking on a rather different style – with frontman Kevin Shields telling The Quietus that they even have a drum and bass track.
The new LP has been in the works since the mid-90s but was never finished, with Shields telling press: “We did an album's worth of half-finished stuff, but it was worth dumping.” But now, they’ve regrouped after a number of years away from music-making and are finally putting out a third album – and it’s gonna be a little bit different to their older stuff.
“There's one drum and bass song, from that era when we were doing drum and bass music, which never came out,” Shields revealed. “We were actually inventing a new sound – and this song doesn't really represent it, but – we were doing slowed down drum and bass music around 1993, 1994.”
He went on to say: “There's one song that survived from that period, that approach. Like slowed down drum and bass. Except, um... it's really fast. A lot of the guitars are very aggressive.”
He then added: “Then I've got to record the ninth song from scratch. Then I've got to mix it. But that's OK, because I'm not slow at mixing.”
