Whilst the UK has contributed some of the biggest and best names in music, from Led Zeppelin, to The Beatles, from Blur, to the Chemical Brothers, from Coldplay to Black Sabbath. But, it seems no matter how musically talented our country is, we'll never win Eurovision again!
The UK, one of the longest competing countries in the competition, have won the contest a total of five times, making us jointed second in the all-time Eurovision ranks. But, the last time we came 1st was in 1997 and we've performed pretty poorly ever since.
This year's entry, veteran singer Engelbert Humperdinck, sang his 'heart' out for our country over the weekend, but ended up coming 2nd from last after opening the show in Azerbajan with the tune 'Love Will Set You Free'.
His paltry 12 points helped the UK finish above only Norway (who amassed just 7 points) and was dwarfed by Sweden's Loreen, who scored 372 points. She told the crowd: I want to say that I love you so much. Thank you for believing in me.
Humperdinck didn't beat himself up over the performance and said after the show: I had a great time, a very wonderful time. I hope everyone listening to the song
we shared the song with every generation. I sang it from my heart. But Britain's Eurovision curse continues, and will apparently do so for a long time.
Irish pop dup Jedward have since revealed that they'll never perform at Eurovision again, after finishing 19th with their own new track 'Waterline'. They said: I think we'll leave it to somebody else to do it next year. We'll leave it to a new artist out there who is undiscovered. Ireland do have a chance of winning - we've won seven times before.
