Iron Maiden Fight Off Tough Competition In Greatest Album Poll

Iconic British rockers Iron Maiden have hit yet another milestone in their long and illustrious career – after their LP 'The Number of the Beast' topped a month-long poll to find out Britain's favourite release since the Queen took over the throne 60 years ago.
HMV set out to find out which of the thousands of tracks which came out during the Queen's diamond reign was the most popular, and incorporated social networks to help them. 30,000 votes later and it turns out that it was Iron Maiden's 'Number of the Beast' which took first place.
The Beatles unsurprisingly turned out to be one of our favourite band's of the period, and received over 20% of the votes – even though one specific record couldn't match Iron Maiden's third ever album. The Beatles' highest finisher was 'Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club', which finished third overall.
Other entries into the poll included Pink Floyd's seminal 'Dark Side of the Moon', which finished fifth, whilst Depeche Mode's 'Violator' managed to come second. The Beatles 'Abbey Road completes the top five, finishing fourth. Unsurprisingly, Adele's '21' was the only record that's still in the Top 10 of the UK Albums Chart to finish in the top 60.
