Blurred Vision Announce New Cover Single 'The Sound Of Silence'

Canada-based rock and roll outfit Blurred Vision have announced that they've released new single 'The Sound of Silence' – a cover of Simon and Garfunkel's classic, 50 year-old track.

It's hard to believe it's been nearly 50 years since 'The Sound of Silence' began carving the path to stardom for a legendary folk duo named Simon and Garfunkel. It was the group's first hit single and Paul Simon had written the song in college as a means to cope with the alienation of youth and as a response to the assassination of President John Fitzgerald Kennedy.

Fast-forward to 2012 in a decade that, much like the 60's, began with war, immense corruption, and fear of the unknown. A new group has burst onto the scene ready to follow the path of past legends, and carve out a new, unique legacy for themselves with their music and global vision.

For Blurred Vision, releasing a cover is a deeply methodical process and one that has to make sense on every level. 'We don't like to just take a song and cover it. We look at the times we live in and the environment we are engulfed by and turn to the giants of musical expression to reawaken classic tracks for our generation to embrace and reflect upon'.

Since 2010, when Blurred Vision released their first single – a rendition of Pink Floyd's Another Brick in the Wall - the band has gone on to win numerous awards and accolades. Blurred Vision was covered in every major publication, from Rolling Stone to Billboard, and even received the backing and public endorsement of rock legend Roger Waters. The band most recently released a single as a tribute to John Lennon with proceeds going to New York charity Whyhunger to fight against hunger and poverty in the US and around the World.

The new single is out now, and you can check out the band's website here.
