Stereoboard Previews Boom Town Fair 2012

A long time ago in a galaxy far far away, a spaceship, travelling faster than the speed of light has its trajectory aimed at a boutique festival called Boom Town Fair.

ImageWith its technology failing, the unidentified flying saucer crash lands at the festival, located just outside Winchester, with its alien beings staying for a party. Of course this is fictional, but this is the fabricated theme that is set to overrun the festival of Boom Town this year!

Last year, the Boom Town organisers dawned upon the idea of a post-apocalyptic retreat being held in the small town of Boom, a town that is now being overhauled by rebels that run the makeshift mock town and frighten the townsfolk and officials. Think Mad Max, Escape from L.A and Escape from New York.

However, this year has an Outer Space theme to provide something unique and boutique for its revellers, and if you are still unsure and struggling to imagine the unconventional set-up for this year's festival, the organisers have brought in none other than Arcadia Spectacular to pull the strings behind the make-up.

With the ‘mothership’ landing onsite, expect strange creatures, eerie sounds, mutated vehicles, spaceships and creatures infesting the woodlands – explore if you dare!

Arcadia Spectacular is the creative and innovative minds behind Glastonbury’s Shangri-La and Trash City. They have been so successful over the years at the UK’s grandest of festivals that Michael Eavis (organiser of Glasto) bestowed his trust in them and gave them the free running of an entire field for each Glastonbury.

With the famous Pyramid stage taking a break from the festival calendar this year, Arcadia Spectacular announced their exclusivity to Boom Town and is set to make sure this year’s festival is its most memorable.

Only in its fourth consecutive year, they have already sold out for 2012 with the same happening in 2011. So much so last year that local police and the council have asked for tighter and greater security this year as the popularity of Boom Town became too much and festival-goers began to scale the fences! Dont be put off however, Boom Town 2012 is now fully prepared for its antics and shenanigans.

Gogol Bordello headlined the festival last year in tremendous fashion. This year, despite a plethora of ska and punk acts, the line-up seems to be dominated by heavy bass.

The self-proclaimed ‘king of dancehall’ Beenie Man is bringing his special and estranged mix of dance-reggae. Capdown will also be partaking in the weekend’s music, amalgamating their unique blend of ska, punk, hardcore and reggae all in one.

Elsewhere through the weekend are the likes of Sonic Boom Six, Reel Big Fish, Caspa, JackBeats, Stanton Warriors and Krafty Kuts, which brings a diversity of music that includes, ska, punk, dub, dub reggae, rave, swing, bass and rockabilly – making BoomTown a rather unique festival with a secret Sunday headliner still to be announced.

With a spectacular array of aliens and extra-terrestrial activity in display, this is sure to be an astronomically entertaining weekend. Just hope no alien probing takes place!

Boom Town Festival 2012 is happening right now! The festivities kicked-off yesterday, Thursday 9th August and run through to Sunday 12th July. For further information visit www.boomtownfair.co.uk.
