Emeli Sande Overtakes Adele In 2012 Album Sales Chart

Scottish singing sensation Emeli Sande managed a feat that some thought was damn near impossible today - overtaking Adele’s album ‘21’ as the UK’s top selling album of 2012 so far.
Adele took the globe universe by storm with the release of her sophomore album, selling over 24 million copies of the LP since it’s release in January last year. But now, Emeli Sande’s ‘Our Version of Events’ has usurped her position on the throne, after shifting 660,000 copies across the country since it’s release in February.
Adele isn’t far away, as you can imagine, and boasts 657,000 sales of her own. Lana Del Rey’s ‘Born to Die’ is listed in third, while singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran claims fourth place with ‘+’. Unsurprisingly, Coldplay complete the top five with their oddly titled ‘Mylo Xyloto’. Sande can’t take all of the glory, though - as compilation album ‘Now That’s What I Call Music! 81’ has actually sold 700,000 copies.
Sande’s album is, plain and simply, a brilliant debut record, and tracks like ‘Heaven’ and ‘Read All About It’ have catapulted the singer to stardom. But, it is a possibility that Adele only missed out on first because pretty much everyone and their nan (nans especially) already bought ‘21’ last year.
