One Direction Have Earned Close To £100,000,000, Says New Simon Cowell Biography

While almost everyone under the sun would love to become a world-famous superstar, with seemingly endless money and a range of flashy cars, some of you may not actually know how much money some of your favourite stars make. Well, to put things into perspective, we can reveal how much X Factor pop sensations One Direction have earnt in their first two years - close to £100,000,000.
The incredible figure was disclosed in a new biography written about Simon Cowell, which the The Daily Mirror paper quoted this morning, with their vast fortune raised thanks to merchandising and endorsement as much as record and ticket sales. The book also claims that Sony and Cowell’s Syco have managed to rake in way more than the boys’ £100million (it’s even been suggested that they have made closer to £200million - a stark view of Record Label’s control in today’s music.
The Mirror quotes the book - written by Tom Bower - as saying: “One Direction were Cowell's new Westlife – a revival of his mastery of the music business. Nothing had been left to chance by Sony Music, with the band's hit album ‘Up All Night’ selling over five million copies.
“The songs, publishing, discs, DVDs, merchandising and endorsements brought in huge profits, with the five members of the group together estimated to have earned nearly £100 million ($162 million). Naturally, Sony and Syco raked in much more.”
2013 will see the lads earning even more cash - they’ve got an £11million deal with Pepsi, a 3D movie coming out, and, of course, a world tour.
