'New Album About Everything After X Factor', Says Matt Cardle

X Factor winner Matt Cardle - who has since parted ways with Simon Cowell’s Syco label - has revealed that his second and latest studio album is ‘inspired’ by his experience after leaving the hugely popular singing show.

Cardle parted ways with Syco and Columbia earlier this year, after seemingly growing sick of his ties with the X Factor, the programme that shot him to fame in 2010. Now, he’s signed a new deal with So Recordings and will put his sophomore LP ‘The Fire’ on October 29th - and this time round he’s got a lot more to say for himself.

Speaking to his former X Factor mentor Dannii Minogue via her Tumblr, Cardle revealed: “I think the first album - because of the situation I was in before the show - afterwards I was drawing on stuff and inspiration of stuff that happened before that. I wasn't going to write about The X Factor or things like that.

“But ever since the first album came out, I've actually been in situations that I've drawn inspiration from, and so this [album] is all about now. I finally got my hand on the wheel, in regards to co-producing and writing it. The last album - yes, I wrote it - but it was getting produced elsewhere.”

He added: “You write the songs and you've got a certain vibe and it can change drastically.”

You can check out Cardle’s lead single from his new album below - as well as his three UK tour dates, which are lined-up for this October. You can find tickets through Stereoboard.
