The Smiths 'Never, Ever, Ever' Reforming, Says Morrissey Spokesperson

Fans of The Smiths have been on an emotional rollercoaster this week, with the strongest and weightiest rumours of a reunion since their split back in 1987 circulating - only to be denied by Johnny Marr’s manager. Now, their followers are set to take another plunge on the coaster - after a Morrissey spokesperson revealed that the band would ‘never, ever’ be reforming.

While not every piece of news denied by a star’s manager turns out to be false, Morrissey’s representative has joined Marr’s manager Joe Moss to categorically state that the band really, really won’t be getting back together for Glastonbury, Coachella, and a handful of other dates next year.

In a message that’ll put a thorn in the side of even the most optimistic and hopeful Smiths fanatic, a Morrissey rep told Rolling Stone: “The Smiths are never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever going to reunite. You'd have to ask Morrissey [why]. There's got to be a story there, and maybe one day it will be told.”

The comments follow recent reports that the band would be reforming, which saw gossip and news site Holy Moly ‘confirm’ the news, citing ‘several credible sources’. The rumours were so strong in fact, that fans had stopped wondering whether it would actually happen - and were more concerned with whether Mike Joyce would be joining Morrissey, Marr, and Andy Rourke for the potential gigs.
