Having just been awarded the ‘Album of the Year’ at the Classic Brits 2012 for his last release, André Rieu - the most popular classical artist and the biggest solo male touring artist in the world - returns with 'Magic of the Movies': his own selection of the greatest film theme songs, encapsulating some of the most poignant moments in cinema.
Rieu made chart history when his first three albums released in the UK entered the Top 10 of the UK Pop Charts, and totally dominated the Specialist Classical Charts. No other violinist - not even Nigel Kennedy - has made such an impact. This unprecedented success was enough to bring André and his whole orchestra over to tour the UK.
Arenas across the country were completely sold out as André swept everyone away with his music. Rieu returns to the UK in December 2012 for another series of live extravaganzas sure to be rendered irresistible by the maestro’s onstage charisma and rock-star demeanour.
It is clear from this new collection not only why Rieu's albums have gone Platinum 243 times, selling over 30 million discs globally, but why he has brought so much pleasure to literally millions of people over his 30-year recording career. From the classic 'Moon River' from Breakfast at Tiffany's and 'Edelweiss' from The Sound of Music, to the haunting 'Windmills Of Your Mind' from The Thomas Crown Affair and 'Lara's Theme' from Dr. Zhivago, each piece of movie music shimmers with that famous André Rieu twist.
'Magic Of The Movies' is set for release on 5th November on Decca Records.
