Mars Recordings Release New dRamatic And dbAudio Single 'Far Away'/'Days Running Out'

Following on from our story on Clive Psylence’s Ingredients Records’ critically-acclaimed ‘Mise en Place’ EP release, we’ve now got our hands on something brand new from Mars Recordings - somewhat of an off-shoot of Ingredients that is bringing the old skool back to drum and bass.

ImageNot content with having one successful, 170bpm-orientated record label, Clive set out to create a brand new label that is fresh but full of the original drum and bass sounds that he first fell in love with - in his own words, ‘a throwback for me to my favourite years in drum & bass.’

The new single, the label’s sixth record release, features two tracks from dRamatic and dbAudio, a pair who have been working very closely with Clive at Mars Recordings.

It’s A-side is an awesome track called ‘Far Away’, featuring Canadian vocalist/producer Grimm, that has been remixed by Total Science. Total Science is a name synonymous with old skool drum and bass, and he smashes this remix in a big way.

The crisp percussion, the liquid-y, trill/wobble bassline, and perfect vocals combine perfectly to produce a piece that will please any music-lovers ears, drum and bass fan or not. ‘Far Away’ is quite literally ‘far away’ from the noise-y, sonic ear-rape that some of today’s electronic music producers are putting out - and is complimented by the B-side ‘Days Running Out’.

‘Days Running Out’ is a chilled-out liquid runner, with well-worked vocal cuts and deep jungle-y bass-stabs. Though it’s a lot more simple than it’s flip, it’s a perfect mix between calm and rolling and together with the first track, it’s a brilliant addition to the Mars Recordings catalogue.

The single hit shelves on Monday (October 29th) and is available to grab from most outlets right now - you can check out a preview of both tracks below.
