Jermaine Jackson Files Court Petition To Change Name

Jackson 5 star Jermaine Jackson has reportedly filed a court petition to legally change his name - but, rather than a massive change (which would probably cause a bit of confusion with his 70s records ‘Jermaine’ and ‘My Name is Jermaine’), he’s asking to simply become Jermaine Jacksun.

The name-change may seem bizarre and kind of unnecessary to some, but it will give him a unique moniker that will distance his solo work from everything Jackson related - a name now synonymous with the group and late superstar Michael Jackson.

Steve Dennis - a friend of Jermaine who spoke to the AP on his behalf - said of the decision: “Phonetically, it changes nothing." He added: "It is something he has chosen to do, and it's fair to say that you cannot blame this one on the boogie, you've got to blame it on the sunshine.”

Jermaine himself has commented that the change is for ‘artistic reasons’, and the petition will be considered in court on February 23rd next year. What do you think of the idea? Let us know in the comment section below.
