Julian Lennon: 'Bono's Eyesight Is Deteriorating'

The late son of Beatles star John Lennon Julian has revealed that the eyesight of U2 star Bono is deteriorating - though he admits that his specialist sunglasses (which he’s required to wear) are part of his trademark image.

Bono is known for wearing his tinted sunglasses, and has previously confessed that an eye condition which makes him sensitive to the sun (and light in general) forces him to wear them. What we didn’t know, though, is that his condition is worsening - as Julian Lennon explains.

“Bono actually has a condition with his eyes,” Julian told the Irish Daily Star. “I don't know the exact issue but the brightness of the sun hurts them and it's a deteriorating issue.”

He went on to add: “It's part of his image. In some senses it was lucky, but not really of course. Maybe it's part of his process now and without the image he can't be Bono.”

How serious the condition truly is is unknown to us, but we hope Bono can continue to rock and inspire the world for as long as he lives. What do you think of the news? Let us know in the comment section below.
