I Used To Be A Sparrow Announce New Album Release Date

Thursday, 11 April 2013 Written by Elliott Batte

Swedish indie rock outfit I Used to be a Sparrow have announced that their new album ‘You Are an Empty Artist’ will hit shelves on April 15th, via Paper Wings Music.

One year on from their debut record release ‘Luke’, I Used to be a Sparrow are ready to pick up from where they left off with new sophomore effort ‘You Are An Empty Artist’. Blending influences as diverse as pop, alternative rock, and electro folk while maintaining a common watermark is a theme that has continued since their debut. However, ‘You Are an Empty Artist’ reinforces their genre-defying approach, bringing their music to a more personal and kaleidoscopic dimension than ever before.

The duo - consisting of of Dick Pettersson and Andrea Caccese - have created an act that embodies a compromise between the urgency of a garage band and the impact of epic indie rock, slicing in electronica and pop wherever they can.

With a straightforward and heartfelt approach, the Västerås pair are all about taking chances and following instinct when it comes to their music. Swapping stories, songs and favourite records quickly led to an effortless songwriting partnership.

You can check out the video for their track ‘Warpaint on Invisible Children’ - taken from the new album - below.
