Longtime Drummer Steve Jocz Leaves Sum 41

Thursday, 18 April 2013 Written by Elliott Batte

Steve Jocz has announced that he’ll be leaving Sum 41 today, having drummed for the band since their birth in 1996.

Jocz and frontman Deryck Whibley were the only remaining founding members of the band, and the sticksman has featured on all of their albums to date - but now, ahead of their sixth record, he’s decided to part ways.

The news was broken via a post on the band’s Facebook page - it reads:

“I'm sorry to announce that I've decided to leave Sum 41.

Touring with the band has been an amazing experience that has taken us far beyond our old practice space in my parent's basement to countless countries around the world. I've had the opportunity to see and experience so much and for that I am truly grateful.

I just want to thank all of our fans for making the last 17 years possible. I had a blast.

Thanks again,

Stevo.”
