English rock legends The Rolling Stones wowed an audience in LA with an intimate performance on the weekend, playing a selection of crowd favourites and classic covers such as Otis Redding’s ‘That’s How Strong My Love Is’.
Mick Jagger and co. surprised fans by announcing a one-off gig in the Echoplex venue in Los Angeles on Saturday morning, and took to the stage just hours later for a performance that those lucky few that got a ticket will never forget.
The band were lively throughout and played through a number of their hits, including ‘Street Fighting Man’ and ‘Miss You’. Describing the show as ‘the first show of the tour, and probably the best’, they also performed some incredible covers - including The Temptations’ ‘Just My Imagination’. You can check out a full setlist below.
Though you’d have been lucky to get ticket for the gig - which were distributed via a lottery from the venue on the same morning - a number of big name celebrities found their way inside, with actors Owen Wilson, Johnny Depp, and Bruce Willis all watching.
Also in the crowd were the likes of Green Day and No Doubt, while they were joined onstage by Chuck Leavell, Bernard Fowler, Bobby Keys, and Darryl Jones. Even former guitarist Mick Taylor got involved, pitching in for their performance of ‘Midnight Rambler’ and their cover of Robert Johnson’s ‘Love in Vain’.
You can check out a video of the performance below, as well as the setlist - you’ll also find The Rolling Stones’ UK tour dates, which sees them performing in Hyde Park this July. Follow the links to see if you can find any remaining tickets through Stereoboard.
