Korean superstar Psy took over the world with his mega-hit single ‘Gangnam Style’ last year, and the track became one of the most listened to tunes of the century - and the most watched video on YouTube. Despite returning with new single ‘Gentleman’ earlier this year, Psy’s beginning to lose his appeal, especially in Italy - where he was booed during the Italian cup final!
The global phenomenon seems to have got on people’s last nerves as of late, with Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong recently describing him as the ‘herpes of music’. Now, he’s got on the bad side of Italian football fans (who, as you probably know, are some of the craziest in the world!).
Psy was lined-up to perform at halftime for fans at the Coppa Italia - aka the Italian Cup - final on Sunday evening, a game which featured fierce city rivals Lazio and Roma. But, rather than embrace the entertainment, the fans did what they do best - boo as loudly and strongly as they possibly could, briefly uniting the two sides before the game later continued.
Obviously still bitter about the 2002 World Cup, which saw South Korea knocking Italy out of the competition, fans didn’t hold back - with Psy timidly finishing his performance, before thanking fans for their ‘support’. You can check out a video of the scenes below - what do think; were the fans rude to boo, or was it a silly idea to book Psy in the first place?
