New Bastille Album To Be More Guitar-Based

Friday, 05 July 2013 Written by Elliott Batte

London-based alt-rockers Bastille have claimed that their next album will be heavier and a lot more diverse than their chart-topping debut ‘Bad Blood’.

Frontman Dan Smith spoke to Gigwise about what will be their sophomore record, and revealed that they feel ‘quite free’ and ‘chilled out’ about putting it together. They’re also going to include more guitars - having been donated a ‘really beautiful’ one by a fan.

“Will (Farquarson, bassist) has just been given a really beautiful guitar by a really nice fan so we feel like we should probably use it. We didn't really have much of that on the first album and it may not end up on it but it would be quite interesting to try it out. We feel quite free. If we want to go quite electronic then we can and if we want to go more rocky and indie then we can.”

Smith continued:

“We just got on with it with no scrutiny whatsoever. We're slightly past the point of caring about what other people think and I think we just want to make an album that we enjoy making with songs that we're happy with.”

You’ll be able to hear the band performing some new material on their up and coming UK tour this October and November. If you need tickets, check the dates and links below to find a pair through Stereoboard!
