REM's Michael Stipe 'Honoured' Jay-Z Borrowed Losing My Religion Lyrics For Track On New Album

REM frontman Michael Stipe is ‘thrilled’ that Jay-Z borrowed some of his band’s lyrics for his latest album ‘Magna Carta Holy Grail’, describing it as an ‘honour’.

Jay Z decided he’d pay tribute to the band by featuring the line, "That's me in the corner, that's me in the spotlight, losing my religion", from REM's seminal 1991 track Losing My Religion on Heaven.

Stipe told NME:

“I've known Jay for a long time, he's super cool, super grounded, super smart and super talented. I've always had the deepest respect for him, and his music and choices. We're thrilled (for our lyrics) to be included, it's a really great honour.”
