D'Angelo Pulls Out Of US Gigs Due To 'Medical Emergency'

Tuesday, 06 August 2013 Written by Elliott Batte

D’Angelo has been forced to cancel a string of US live shows after he was taken to hospital for a ‘medical emergency’.

The 39-year-old had already cancelled gigs in Minneapolis, Maryland, and New York, and has now pulled out of shows at Chicago’s House of Blues and in San Diego, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Live Nation has confirmed that the star was taken to hospital due to a ‘medical emergency’, and that he "expresses his sincere regret due to this unfortunate circumstance".

A House of Blues executive also told the Chicago Tribune that D'Angelo's agent said:

“It's serious, but he should be OK.”

D’Angelo is also scheduled to perform at the Outside Lands festival in San Francisco on Friday - but with the cancelled San Diego gig pencilled in for Saturday, he’s a major doubt to perform his set. We’ll let you know if we hear of any updates on his condition.
