Tears For Fears Cover Arcade Fire's Ready to Start For New Album

Friday, 23 August 2013 Written by Elliott Batte

New wave duo Tears For Fears have covered Arcade Fire’s Ready To Start in the run up to their first new album in a number of years.

The 80s pair - who have sold 25 million records worldwide - are working on the follow-up to ‘Everybody Loves a Happy Ending’ (2004), and to inspire them to make some epic new material, they decided to cover an epic track by an epic band.

Speaking to Rolling Stone about their version - which you can check out below - they said:

“The idea was before we actually had any material, before we got together, that we might try and do a couple of cover versions to sort of kickstart the recording process again. I had that bloody melody going round and round and round in my head. It's not like the original.”

Though they are busy in the studio working on new material - which they started while on tour in Brazil last year - and busting out covers, they’re also releasing a remastered and deluxe version of their debut album ‘The Hurting’, in celebration of its 30th anniversary. Look out for that in October.

Meanwhile, check out their ‘Ready to Start’ cover below, and let us know what you think using the comment box underneath!
