Judas Priest Confirm Writing Process For New Album Is 'Complete'

Monday, 26 August 2013 Written by Elliott Batte

British heavy metal outfit Judas Priest have completed writing their next album, according to frontman Rob Halford.

The iconic super-selling Birmingham band had announced almost exactly two years ago that they’d recorded a couple of new tracks for what would be a new studio album, but as of 2013 there hasn’t been any news of a release.

Now though, Halford has given fans an update they’ve long been waiting for, revealing that they’ve finally finished the writing process, and they’re now entering the ‘painstaking’ stages of mastering, tweaking, and perfecting every single sound on the record.

Speaking to Bravewords, the singer said:

“The writing process is complete. Now it's the painstaking work of making sure that you get every single note, every single nuance of the vocal, every tiny aspect...right. We're still tracking (instruments). It's just a very laborious but enjoyable part of making the record.

“[It sounds] hard. It's heavy. It's something we think our Priest fans will be thrilled with. We know we have a reputation to maintain, and we know we have to deliver something really strong and solid. The album is going to be full of all the great things you love about Judas Priest - I don't think I can say anything more than that without being hung, drawn and quartered.”

The band also revealed that they’re planning to tour the record - the follow-up to 2008’s ‘Nostradamus’ - next year, saying that they’d be ‘working furiously and manically in the studio cellars and conjuring up some special moments for next year, I'm sure of that.’
