One Direction Tease New Album: 'It's Very Rock And Retro'

Thursday, 29 August 2013 Written by Elliott Batte

World-beating boyband One Direction have opened up about their forthcoming new album, describing it as ‘quite retro’ and ‘very rock’.

Harry Styles and co. have enjoyed an incredibly successful few years in the music business, and are currently riding the success of their brand new 3D biopic film This Is Us. But, despite putting out two of the highest selling records of the decade so far, they’re hard at work on what will be their third.

Expected for release later this year - ahead of their supermassive UK stadium tour lined-up for 2014 - the band are putting in the finishing touches, but have taken time to speak to MTV about what sounds and styles fans can expect to hear on the record.

1D’s Liam Payne told the site:

“[It's a] very rock direction. We actually spent a lot of time writing this album. We're very proud of it, so we can't wait for it to come out. It's very live sounding, very rocky. [It's] quite retro, but it's very different so we are hoping people will kind of adjust to the music with us.”

For now though, you can watch their film in cinemas (check out the trailer below!), and grab tickets for their 2014 tour - simply check the dates and links underneath the video.
