Ben Taylor Opens Up About New Album 'Listening'

US folk rock star Ben Taylor has opened up about his forthcoming new album ‘Listening’.

Taylor releases his fourth full LP on October 28 and has teased his fans about what’s to come next month in a brand new interview with Female First, revealing that he’s going to ‘tour like a madman’ once the record hits shelves.

When asked what fans can expect to hear on the LP, Taylor said:

“It is pretty eclectic in terms of its influence. However, I think that it is a modern album because I think that the production was geared for every song, rather than being a production style for the album.

“So there are quite a lot of different styles in it, but it is made cohesive because I am common to all of them, but we also sequenced it really well. You get that with a lot of record now as they are a collage as opposed to an album with a single sound.”

Taylor has been in the game for over 15 years and his sound has greatly evolved since his first days on the live circuit, something he’s very aware of.

“As a young artist, you are just so full of excitement, and you want to try out so much. You know all of these words, and you have all of these notes in your arsenal of music, and you just can’t wait to play all the notes that you know.

“I think some of the greatest songwriters of all time are the ones that manage to take fairly big ideas, both musically and lyrically, and put them across in a very simple way. Since I have grown up, I think I am enjoying the space between the notes a whole lot more than I am enjoying the notes themselves.”

Taylor went on to reveal that he’s already working on a new album and as soon as ‘Listening’ hits shelves, he’ll be focussing on hitting the road for a lengthy stint on the tour bus. You’ll have to keep your eyes peeled to see if he announces more UK tour dates but for now he’s already lined-up a performance at London’s Islington O2 Academy for October 14.
