Bestival's Rob Da Bank Admits He Is Envious of Glastonbury Hype

Tuesday, 12 November 2013 Written by Elliott Batte

Rob Da Bank - co-organiser of Bestival - has confessed that he’s a little envious of Glastonbury’s enduring popularity.

The BBC Radio 1 DJ has found major success with his Isle of Wight-based event, which saw the likes of Elton John, Snoop Dogg, and Fatboy Slim headlining this year for over 60,000 fans.

One day he hopes to emulate the success of Glastonbury, the 2014 edition of which sold out in record time back in October. Some 120,000 tickets were shifted in just under 90 minutes.

Speaking to BBC Newsbeat, he revealed:

“I’m very envious of Glastonbury who can go and sell all their tickets in 20 minutes. I’d love that, it would take so much pressure off. Give it another 30 years and we might be doing that as well. Competition every year has been more intense and people’s budgets are stretched. It’s never easy. You never come out of a show and go, ‘Alright cool, we can just sell the tickets’.”
