i-D magazine has launched the new music video for M.I.A’s latest single, Y.A.L.A.
Lifted from her recent release, 'Matangi', the track has now been set to a short film directed by Daniel Sannwald and commissioned by Vice’s i-D in collaboration with KENZO. You can check it out below.
Meanwhile, Steve Loveridge has confirmed that a planned documentary on M.I.A and her music is still going ahead. The project was thrown into doubt earlier this year when the director apparently walked after a public dispute with Interscope. He told NME:
"The documentary is definitely happening. I'm holed up a room in Tottenham Court Road cutting it. I didn't fall out with Maya. She's often a very complicated person to work with and a hard taskmaster, and we do fall out now and again, but on the documentary she's been good as gold. Maya thought it was hilarious that I got into a public spat with the label and management."
