Sam Smith has won the BRITs 2014 Critics' Choice award.
The vocalist, who emerged this year with performances on Disclosure's Latch and Naughty Boy's La La La, released the 'Nirvana' EP in October. He saw off competition from Chlöe Howl and Ella Eyre to take the prize.
“I'm completely overwhelmed," he said. "To see my name alongside the list of former winners, artists I admire so much it, is incredible. What an amazing Christmas present. Thank you.”
Smith will release a new single, Money On My Mind, in February and embark on a UK tour in support of the record. Check below for details and also a new session version of Nirvana.
The Brit Awards ceremony will once again take place at London's O2 Arena on February 19, with Katy Perry and Arctic Monkeys already confirmed to perform. For more details click here.
