Sam Smith has outlined plans for their fifth studio album.

The Grammy, BRIT, Golden Globe and Oscar-winning London-raised artist will release 'Hazel Eyes' through Capitol Records on August 21, following up 2023's 'GLORIA'.

Created with longtime collaborator and friend Simon Aldred, most of the 12-track album was made in New York, where Smith worked with a group of collaborators, including Canadian singer Feist and multi-instrumentalist Shahzad Ismaily, known for his work with Yoko Ono and Damien Rice. It was partly recorded at the legendary Electric Lady Studios and blends a range of influences, from baroque pop and folk to outlaw country and alternative R&B. Smith said:

"This album is an incredibly special record to me. I have been writing it for over three years with a very small group of beautiful, dear friends of mine. This album is very personal, and I feel I have deepened myself as an artist through the making of it, through being a producer on the record, to walking alongside this record from the start to the finish and pushing myself at every single turn. This record and this music is incredibly romantic. I’ve learned so many life lessons through making this album, and I’ve documented it all through the music."

To mark the announcement, the singer-songwriter has shared a new single, My Guy, a heartfelt song inspired by New York, the city Smith now calls home. They said: "This is a song that I feel I have been waiting a lifetime to write and sing. Written with beautiful friends on a summer’s day in New York, this one fell out of the sky. In this sometimes cold and distant world, I hope you can feel the love and the closeness of this recording. I tried to capture the glow and the warmth of love in this one, it makes me cry, maybe it will make you feel a little love too."

Smith began teasing the album, which will also include their 2025 singles Love Is A Stillness and To Be Free, late last year during their To Be Free: New York City residency, which featured multiple intimate shows at Brooklyn’s Warsaw before dates in San Francisco.

The singer will continue the residency with a series of shows this summer at Auditorio Nacional in Mexico City, with more international dates to be announced soon. Tickets are on sale now.

Smith also released 'BBC Proms At The Royal Albert Hall' last year exclusively for Record Store Day, though it's now available on streaming services. The live album captures their performance at the iconic London venue with the BBC Concert Orchestra.
