ArcTanGent Announces Final Headliner

Wednesday, 02 April 2014 Written by Ben Bland

Japanese post-rock legends MONO have been announced as the final headliner for this year’s ArcTanGent.

MONO will top the bill at the festival alongside This Will Destroy You, Russian Circles and God is an Astronaut. ArcTanGent will be the band’s only European Festival appearance of 2014. Once again the announcement comes via way of video made in conjunction with 7bitarcade and Laughing Duck Productions.

Takaakira Goto of MONO says:

"We are very honored to play at ArcTanGent Festival this year alongside so many incredible bands. Our new album is currently in progress for a release date later this year, so hopefully we will share a preview of it. As always, thank you for your support. Somewhere between the soundscapes on an open field, we meet again."

ArcTanGent is expanding on its international draw with a line up of bands coming from the UK and Ireland, Europe, USA and Japan. Fans from all over the globe have purchased tickets to ArcTanGent with some travelling from as far away as Brazil and Chicago.

James Scarlett of ArcTanGent says:

"The 2014 ATG line up is definitely a great progression from last year. We’re so happy to have European exclusives for MONO and Russian Circles, plus a UK exclusive for This Will Destroy You. If you want to see these bands then Fernhill Farm is the place to be! Ticket sales are currently smashing our targets and the festival will certainly sell out well before the gates open in August."

Goc O’Callaghan of ArcTanGent clarifies the festival’s ambitions, adding:

"We’re aiming to come away with Best Small Festival and a Grass Roots festival award this year. This would be a great recognition of all the hard work that goes into running ArcTanGent. We’ll be putting ourselves forward for a Golden Wellie AIM Award too and we’ll see what the judges have to say!"

Other bands on the bill thus far include Tall Ships, Maybeshewill, Jamie Lenman, Lite, Tera Melos, Mylets, Her Name is Calla, I Like Trains, El Ten Eleven, Year of No Light and Fen. The early entry Thursday night will be headlined by And So I Watch You From Afar and Three Trapped Tigers.

For those who cannot wait until the festival, there will be an ArcTanGent night held at the World’s End in Finsbury Park on June 13. Details of this will be announced soon.

This year’s festival takes place from August 28 to 30 2014 at Fernhill Farm near Bristol. For more information and for tickets visit arctangent.co.uk.
