No Devotion Release First Song, Plan Short UK Tour

Tuesday, 01 July 2014 Written by Huw Baines

No Devotion, a band comprising former members of Lostprophets and Thursday’s Geoff Rickly, have premiered their first song and revealed dates for a short tour in July.

Rickly, Jamie Oliver, Stuart Richardson, Luke Johnson, Mike Lewis and Lee Gaze will play shows in Cardiff, Manchester, London and Glasgow.

Lostprophets dissolved last year prior to Ian Watkins being jailed for a string of child sex offences, leaving the band’s members to figure out what to do next. Richardson said in a statement:

“We didn't know if we would ever make music again, if people would look us in the face. Everything felt like it was over. We didn't know what else to do. We just wrote music. I didn't know if anyone would ever want to hear it, I didn't know if anyone ever would hear it. I just needed to occupy my brain. We just needed this.”

Rickly, who is also performing as a solo artist and with United Nations, will put Stay out as a limited edition 12" on his Collect Records label on July 21. He added:

"To be honest, I never really listened to Lostprophets. But with this music, we speak a common language. You don't really grow out of punk, you grow with it. To my mind, post-punk was about taking a more sophisticated approach to that sound, and I think we all have a shared respect for that era of modern music. I had always liked these guys in passing. They're funny and self-aware. I didn't think it was fair, what was happening to them. And, well, the music was too good to pass up."

No Devotion Upcoming Tour Dates are as follows:

Tue July 22 2014 - CARDIFF CF10
Wed July 23 2014 - MANCHESTER Manchester Sound Control
Fri July 25 2014 - LONDON O2 Academy Islington
Sat July 26 2014 - GLASGOW O2 ABC
