Begotten is taken from their forthcoming album, 'Carpe Diem', which is set for release on September 8 through Sinderlyn. Speaking about it, the band said:
"[the song] is about getting older and losing touch with a spiritual side of life (briefly), but working on getting that back, and trying to remind oneself what is actually truly important to ones self."
