Meltdown! is the latest to be lifted from their forthcoming sophomore album, 'Neither Washington Nor Moscow...Again!', which is due out on January 26 via End Hits Records.
The band, which features current and ex-members of Strike Anywhere, Rise Against, Death By Stereo, Nations Afire and Set Your Goals, will support the record with extensive touring, including opening slots for Shoreline, Dave Hause, Boysetsfire and Rogers, as well as their own headline shows across the UK and Europe.
Speaking about Meltdown!, vocalist Thomas Barnett said:
"Meltdown! is about the environmental hum underneath our everyday struggle for meaning and liberty in these times. For the verses, I got inspired by the game of twenty questions ( and the great song by Culture Shock) decided to make it into a dissection of modern identity. The song has a lot of critique and feelings of social control and political Armageddon, but by the end we tried to show the positive truth beyond all the nihilism and digital media hypnosis. We are also looking at the strange addictions of the very ancient mind control devices - religion, and the most modern - our phones as windows to an unaccountable social media reality. Both are built from our fears and power issues, and both are baptisms we can reject. In my view, that’s the original basis of punk and hardcore’s philosophical fabric, where we strip away all the social conditioning, trauma, power games, and Class War, and find the light in ourselves and spread it to the world” Musically? “The verses reminded me of Poison Idea and GBH, the two sides of one of my very first punk cassettes. The post hardcore hard back pedal of the Artificial Life pre choruses felt like the fuzzy logic and inertia of news feed hypnosis. And the Meltdown Choruses reminded me of New Model Army or Killing Joke. Chris Chasse plays a very natural and classic lead through the bridge and it inspired the final chapter of the jam to strip down to the 77 style sing a long. Joe has some intense and surprising bass lines on this beast too. Thanks for listening “
