Matt Maltese has released a video for his new single, Greatest Comedian.
The track was produced by Jonathan Rado of Foxygen and Alex Burey. It will feature on his forthcoming debut album, which is expected to arrive in early summer.
The visual, meanwhile, was directed by Jak Payne, formerly of the Fat White Family. Speaking about it, Maltese said:
“I wanted to create, with Jak, a kind of comically unsettling household scenario where seemingly loveless relationships are carrying on as normal whilst one of the family is performing a love song erratically amongst them. Jak and I went for these rich coloured, dated old England backdrops, and tried to reflect a distance between lovers. We tried to theatricalise the mundane and the stereotypical chores in relationships and households, so as to bring beauty back into 'comfortable' love and life arrangements.”
The singer-songwriter will play his biggest headline show to date at Scala in London on June 6. He will also appear at Liverpool Sound City on May 5 and Deer Shed Festival on July 21. Tickets for all are on sale now.
