The Darkness To Release 'Live At Hammersmith' Album In June

Wednesday, 25 April 2018 Written by Laura Johnson

The Darkness will release a live album this summer.

'The Darkness – Live At Hammersmith' will arrive on June 15 through Cooking Vinyl. It was recorded during the band's show at the Eventim Apollo in December last year as part of their Tour De Prance run.

Speaking about the record, frontman Justin Hawkins said:

“The Darkness is untamed. It cannot be caged. Some very clever recording engineers have discovered a way to capture its essence; all that remains is for us to release it back into the wild.

"Life is about experiences, not possessions. This is your opportunity to possess the experience of The Darkness Live, as perceived by your ears, leaving your eyes free to scan the road ahead for obstacles, or to watch Emmerdale with the sound off, or to mould clay, or to darn socks, or to look at the beautiful artwork in this magnificent gatefold. Release yourself into The Darkness - Live at Hammersmith.”

To outsiders, it often seems that any fresh faced group who ‘suddenly’ arrive on the scene with a bang, and subsequently reap the rewards their newfound status commands, have had it easy and somehow fluked their way out of obscurity. But before hit singles and worldwide tours, there often lies a story of hard graft, setbacks and intense frustration, making that eventual breakthrough taste even sweeter.
