Cypress Hill have shared the first taste of their new record.
The hip-hop duo are set to release their ninth studio album, ‘Elephants On Acid’, through BMG on September 28.
Band of Gypsies represents their first new material in eight years, and was recorded in Egypt. It combines their classic sound with psych-rock flourishes and a team of oud, sitar and flute instrumentalists.
‘Elephants on Acid’ is the first Cypress Hill album to be produced by DJ Muggs since 2004’s ‘Til Death Do Us Part’, and he’s firmly back in the driving seat for the new record. Fellow member Sen Dog noted:
“Anything can happen when Muggs, B-Real, and myself get together to record. We were kids when we first got together. We’ve grown up as men now, but the chemistry is still the same. When we first came out in the nineties, we sounded like nobody else; we sounded like ourselves. This is another continuation.”
Meanwhile B-Real added:
“The album is both a trip back to the roots and an escape into a completely new world.”
Cypress Hill tour the UK in December supporting the album, including their biggest shows for over a decade.
