Disclosure Drop Two New Tracks Moonlight And Where Angels Fear To Tread

Tuesday, 21 August 2018 Written by Laura Johnson

Disclosure have dropped two new singles.

For Moonlight the brothers Lawrence sampled Swedish a capella troupe The Real Group. Their take on When I Fall In Love is interwoven and stretched over deep house beats. It makes for a haunting, hip swaying five minutes.

Where Angels Fear To Tread also features a vocal group, the Four Freshmen, who were most popular in the 1950s. The sample is left much more in tact than that used on Moonlight and because of this the song has an endearingly dated feel, though it does get revived with some basic, unimposing beats. The duo said:

"We’ve been completely obsessed with acapella jazz groups lately, and wanted to try and incorporate that sound into our music. The Four Freshmen where one of the earliest groups to incorporate advanced jazz harmony into this style and inspired the likes of The Beach Boys. Years later, they are still inspiring us.”

The tracks follow up Ultimatum, which came out in May and marked their first material since 2016’s ‘Moog For Love’ EP.
