Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers and Lucy Dacus have formed a new group called Boygenius, announcing a US tour together and details of their debut EP.
The self-titled release will land on November 9 through Matador, while you can head below to stream three new tracks. Stay Down is fronted by Baker, the contemplative Me & My Dog by Bridgers and Bite The Hand by Dacus. All three are richly melodic and beautifully delivered. But of course they are.
“When we met, Lucy and Phoebe and I were in similar places in our lives and our musical endeavors, but also had similar attitudes toward music that engendered an immediate affinity,” Baker said. “Lucy and Phoebe are incredibly gifted performers, and I am a fan of their art outside of being their friends, but they are also both very wise, discerning and kind people whom I look up to in character as much as in talent.”
Baker and Bridgers will hit the road in North America later this year for a co-headline tour, with Dacus opening. The suggestion of a joint or collaborative set is at this moment just that, but it’d seem likely, no? The run gets underway at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium on November 4.
