Ghost Announce The Ultimate Tour Named Death For North America

Monday, 01 April 2019 Written by Jon Stickler

Ghost will embark on a six-week North American outing titled the Ultimate Tour Named Death this fall.

Having made the jump up to arenas last year, the Swedish band will be joined by Nothing More for shows in September and October, kicking off in Bakersfield, California before weaving eastward throughout Canada and the Midwest wrapping up in New York towards the end of October. Tickets go on general sale at 10am on April 5.

The announcement follows speculation that Ghost mastermind Tobias Forge and band are to put out a new EP consisting entirely of original material this year. He also told 100.5 The KATT that Ghost are planning a live release.

"My intention is not to release just another EP of covers. There might be something else coming out next year, maybe, that might have been recorded already, that won't be covers. If the production on the live front gets to the point where I want it to be, and if we happen to play two dates at a venue that caters to the full production and it's somewhere geographically where there's an audience who is very, very, very avid and very lively, I would love to record a film — a live, visual capture.

"The problem is that you don't wing that – you need to do it in a venue where you're playing two nights in a row; it needs to be sold out; it needs to be huge; and it needs to be a very, very vivid crowd that's fun to film and fun to look at. Sometimes, it kind of rules out certain cities."

In December 2018, Ghost picked up Grammy nominations for Best Rock Album and Best Rock Song for 'Prequelle' and Rats, respectively.

Once a band that disgorged Sabbathian doom metal splattered with gothic horror imagery, they have evolved into a rock spectacle that’s part pantomime, part musical and part Satanic disco.

Such a milestone is worth celebrating, and these guys know the perfect way to do so.
