Zayn Malik And Zhavia Ward Share A Whole New World Collaboration From Aladdin Soundtrack

Friday, 10 May 2019 Written by Jon Stickler

Zayn Malik has shared A Whole New World, a duet with Zhavia Ward.

The collaboration will feature in the soundtrack as well as the end credits for Disney’s upcoming live-action remake of Aladdin, starring Mena Massoud, Naomi Scott and Will Smith. It hits cinemas on May 24.

The song was originally recorded by Peabo Bryson and Regina Belle in 1992, picking up a Grammy and an Oscar for composer Alan Menken.

The new version, meanwhile, finds the former One Directioner and Ward singing the romantic ballad while wandering the streets of Manhattan at night. Mitchell Leib, president of music and soundtracks for the Walt Disney Studios said in a statement:

"The selection of artists, producer and tonal direction was critical for the success of updating a classic song like this. Zayn’s vocals are like no other and his artistic imprint immediately brought a contemporary and diverse presence.

"Additionally, Zayn could have chosen any artist in the world to collaborate with on the duet, but he personally selected Zhavia for her unique perspective, powerful vocal abilities and to platform a talented new artist, ensuring that the audience could discover this song, again, for the first time."

Malik released his second solo LP, ’Icarus Falls’, last December.
