Metz have shared the latest cut from their upcoming compilation album.

Alongside a grainy video made up of old photos of the band touring, Dry Up is a raucous, noisy affair full of blazing guitar riffs and angry drum fills. It’s the latest from ‘Automat’, a collection of non-album singles, b-sides and rarities, which is due for release on July 12.

The three-piece’s frontman, Alex Edkins commented that Metz have been writing together for over a decade. “It’s been a blur. We’ve very rarely allowed ourselves to look backward. We’ve been hyper-focused on always moving forward at breakneck speed, perpetually fixated on what’s next.”

“The video for Dry Up, as well as the ‘Automat’ album," he continued, "is an attempt to pause, take a breath, look backward and take stock of our past. It’s intended to express how grateful we are to be able to do what we do. It’s a love letter to the incredible places we’ve traveled, the beautiful people we’ve met, to community, music and friendship.”

Metz head to the UK in June as part of a wider European tour. Tickets are on sale now, priced from £13.75 including fees.

Wed 18 Dec 2019
Although the average metal fan won’t exactly be in thrall to ‘90s romcom Jerry Maguire, it does contain a quote that’s pertinent here. At the conclusion of his passionately protracted monologue, Renee Zellweger famously tells Tom Cruise “you had me at hello.” Speaking with similar heart about this live offering, Stone Sour guitarist Josh Rand proclaimed, “We're extremely proud of the fact it's 100% live with absolutely no overdubs!”, before needlessly unveiling plenty of details about the release. Josh, you had us at ‘100% live.’
